Stonegate Family,

Like you, we have continued to watch the unfolding story of the Coronavirus. To see our previous post, go here. This story is dynamic, changing daily. In light of current recommendations in the DFW area,

WE HAVE DECIDED TO CANCEL OUR WORSHIP GATHERING THIS SUNDAY (March 15th).

This decision has been weighty. We believe that the people of God gathering, to turn their gaze toward God through song and sermon, is a vital part of every community of faith. However, in the short-term, we believe this is the wisest and most loving path forward. Let me stress, the motive is not fear. The motive under this decision is love and a concern for the welfare of those around us. In light of this decision, here is what you need to know.

1: THIS SUNDAY’S SERVICE WILL BE MOVED ONLINE AT 9:00 AM. Although an online service does not replace the role of God’s people gathering, it is helpful. So join us online at 9:00 am on Sunday.

2: THIS SUNDAY, OUR BUILDING WILL BE OPEN FROM 9:00-11:00 AM FOR PRAYER. Some of our staff, elders, and prayer team will be available to pray with or for you. In addition, we’ll provide space and a guide for you to pray individually.

3: WE ARE STILL ENCOURAGING STONEGATE GROUPS TO MEET, although this is up to the discretion of each Group leader. For those Groups who would like to meet, we are encouraging strict, but short-term, behavioral changes. We’ll follow up with a post on those short-term behavioral changes soon.

4: WE ARE POSTPONING OTHER STONEGATE RELATED EVENTS IN MARCH. You can expect more communication concerning reworked schedules from our ministry leaders early next week.

Stonegate, this is a unique time to be a Christian. We have an amazing opportunity to show a worried world what it looks like to be confident in our risen King. Throughout Christian history, this is what followers of Jesus have been known for. We are a people willing and ready to risk our lives for the sake of love. So this week, meet with Jesus often. Allow the Spirit of God to pour the love of God into your heart, awakening in each of us a deep confidence in Jesus. Then let’s step into this unique moment. Let’s find vulnerable people to serve. Let’s be ready for conversation, ready to share the reason for the hope we have (1 Peter 3:18). Let’s show an anxious world the difference Jesus makes!

Stonegate, I love you and can’t wait to gather with you again soon!

Pastor Rodney
