Family matters at Stonegate Church.

The health of our church can be measured by the spiritual growth of our members, even the youngest ones. We desire to partner with parents in the Biblical upbringing of children through Camp Stonegate, our ministry to 1st through 5th graders. Our Children's Ministry is dedicated to engaging each child in Bible teaching, reinforcing Scripture that should be taught at first in the home.

It is our sole desire to help your child know and grow closer to Jesus from a young age.

It is sometimes difficult for children to be separated from their parents. We ask that you prepare your children ahead of time so that they will understand the importance of their time and yours as you seek to grow closer to God. Please see the Check-In Procedure for suggestions on how to do this. Camp Stonegate is much more than a babysitting service, it is a safe place where children learn about Jesus, are encouraged, loved, and prayed for, as well as make friends.

  • CURRICULUM

We take the teaching of our kids very seriously.

We want to do a great job in partnering with you to see God grow, save, and mature your child disciple of Jesus. And that begins in the home. This desire to help you pastor, or disciple, your family greatly influenced the decision on curriculum.

First, we want the curriculum to be understandable and age appropriate as it conveys the big truths and the great news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Second, we want it to be usable to parents. With that in mind, we want you to get familiar with the curriculum we use. We would love for you to take what we use on Sunday and incorporate it into the normal rhythms of your family.

    THE GOSPEL PROJECT

Stonegate Kids uses The Gospel Project as their curriculum. The Gospel Project is a Bible study resource that shows how Christ fits into the entire gospel story, pre-creation to eternity. And where each one of us fits into it, too. Click HERE for a short video about The Gospel Project.

Your child will be taught that Christianity is primarily about Jesus and what He has done for us. Our goal for your child is much bigger than good behavior, we want the good news of the Gospel to capture and change their heart. As we share with your child more and more of what Jesus has done for them (and us!), our prayer is that their hearts would grow more in love with Him.

    THE NEW CITY CATECHISM

We also utilize the New City Catechism. A catechism is a tool to teach the church rich theology, centering on the Good News of the Gospel. New City Catechism is comprised of only 52 questions and answers. There is one question and answer for each week of the year, making it simple to fit into calendars and achievable even for people with demanding schedules. There is also an accompanying verse each week. It is a joint adult and children's catechism. In other words, the same questions are asked of both children and adults, and the children's answer is always part of the adult answer. Lastly, other tools are included with the catechism such as corresponding prayers, videos and commentaries for adults, and songs for children.

To download the app for your iPad or get the catechism online, go to: www.NewCityCatechism.com

  • SAFETY

The safety of your child is of utmost importance. In Stonegate Kids we consider it our responsibility to create a safe environment for children to learn about Jesus. Each team member must first go through training before serving in one of our classrooms or small groups. This includes a background check (re-checked every 3 years), sexual abuse training, and training on Stonegate Kids policies and procedures. We also seek to adhere to current Ministry Safe worker-to-child ratios for each of our classrooms.

You may see youth helping in our preschool area (ages 11-17). We have extremely helpful teens that add greatly to the overall environment for our preschoolers! Each teen is required to do sexual abuse training. In addition, we background check anyone 15 and older. Lastly, no one under 18 is allowed to assist with bathroom breaks or diaper changes.  Teens are always in the presence of the Lead Teacher and/or Coordinator.

  • SICKNESS

To prevent the spread of sickness, please do not drop your child off to Camp Stonegate with any of the following conditions:

    • Fever in the last 24 hours
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • Persistent cough
    • Cloudy or green runny nose
    • Any unexplainable rash
    • Symptoms of eye infection: gunk around the eyes, pink/red eyes, lots of drainage or tearing
    • Signs of lice

If our team members notice any of the following symptoms in your child, you will be called to pick them up immediately.

  • SPECIAL NEEDS

If your child has a special need, we have volunteers available who would love to meet your child and walk alongside your family to help your child thrive in Stonegate Kids. If possible, please let us know in advance that you will be coming so we can be sure to accommodate your child as best as possible. You can do so by emailing with any information about your child and a phone number to reach you at. Our Special Needs Advocate will then call you to see how we can best serve your family.

Though this program is just starting up, we are aiming to provide “buddies” for any child with unique needs. These are adults who are trained in working with children with special needs and passionate about helping these children thrive. They will accompany your child in his or her classroom and be his/her companion for the duration of the morning, helping them as needed.

We meet at both 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday Mornings.

If you have any questions or if there is any way we can serve you, please let us know. Thank you for trusting your most precious gift to us. We look forward to serving your family!
